You can be guaranteed you won’t be hard up for things to do in Roatan. No matter where you are, with all the places to stay in Roatan, you won’t be far from some sort of action. If you’re looking for some tips, check out this list of some of the more popular activities.

Scuba Diving

Roatan is known for some of the cheapest scuba diving in the world. Add to that fact that the world’s second largest coral reef is just offshore makes Roatan a diver’s paradise. This is a great place to get certified as well as an exciting diving spot for the more experienced. There are an abundance of diving shops to help you get set for the ocean.

Snorkeling

You don’t need to scuba dive to take advantage of the incredible marine life that the coral reef offers. It’s possible to swim out to the reef from places like West Bay Beach. This is one of the more popular placesto stay in Roatan. Even if you don’t make it out all the way to the reef, Roatan’s shallowest waters are still teeming with life and colour. Rent some fins, mask and a snorkel, or bring your own.

Sunbathing

Roatan has some of the best beaches in the world. The previously mentioned West Bay Beach is renowned for its white sand. Grab a sun chair and umbrella or lay your towel right on the sand. Other favourite beaches include Half Moon Bay, Marbella Beach, and the man made Mahogany Bay Beach.

Boating

Boating is big business on the island of Roatan. And with all that surrounding warm water there’s little wonder why! There are a wide variety of boating expeditions you can embark on, so if you’re looking to do some fishing, learn how to sail, visit neighbouring islands or just want to relax with some dinner and a sunset, there will be a boat tour just for you.

Extreme Sporting

If the aforementioned activities seem too tame for you, you may want to amp things up with some ziplining, parasailing or jet skiing. For equestrians there are plenty of outfitters who will set you up with a horse. There’s also a mud obstacle course that can be combined with an island tour or trip to the beach.
